The Nigerian federal Government on Tuesday, launched a new strategy code named SCALES, Which (Service delivery, communication, accountability, logistics, electronic reporting, and supportive supervision for the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination ) to help scale up vaccination in the country.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, the minister of health notes that the double doses of vaccines is discouraging many people from taking the vaccines, and some who took their first dose decline taking a second jab if they experience some adverse effects with their first jab.
According to the minister, the new strategy was introduced in November 2021 by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency(NPHCDA), to rapidly ramp up COVID-19 vaccine coverage by expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines outside health facilities.
The minister is however optimistic that the launch of ‘SCALES 2.0 Strategy, and the use of a Single-Dose Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, will help scale up the exercise, and raise the number of fully vaccinated people, as against the current situation where the proportion of fully vaccinated Nigerians is still very low
Doctor Ehanire further assured Nigerians of adequate stock of Johnson and Johnson Vaccine, saying there are over 38 million doses in stock, which will soon be deployed to 36 states
