The federal government has says it’s focusing the Johnson & Johnson vaccines on those who are in the hard-to-reach areas such as riverine areas, desert areas and security-compromised areas, As Nigeria currently has in country 12,916,450 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines.
The Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development, Faisal Shuaib revealed this at the official handover of two million doses of Johnson & Johnson covid 19 Vaccines donated by the European Union to the Nigeria government on Monday in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Faisal Shuaib States that one million, nine hundred and thirty six thousand and fifty ( 1,936,050) of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been received by the federal government, which only requires a single dose for full vaccination.
Shuaib also made it known that the federal government have been engaging with the poor performing states to identify areas where they would require more support and to also help them in identifying areas where they can improve in order to ramp up their vaccination coverage before the end of 2022.
Furthermore while assuring the country partnerships, Shuaib says all vaccines approved by the World Health Organization are safe and can deliver adequate protection against the disease, says Nigeria has vaccinated 15,792,392 (14.1%) of her eligible population with the 1st dose.
