The Honourable Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamilla says the National Assembly has addressed the legislation which will provide free access to healthcare by making health Insurance Scheme mandatory in the country.
He said the legislators has passed the bill and are hoping that President Muhammadu Buhari will give ascent to the bill soon.
The Speaker disclosed this through the Chairman House Committee on Health Tanko Sununu at the 44th and 45th National Conference of the West African College of Physicians in Abuja.
While disclosing the major crisis rocking the Country at the moment which he said includes the Covid 19 pandemic, the Security status he added that these has caused the resources of the country to dwindle.
He however said despite the challenges, they have tried to address them by providing effective legislation, oversight and representation.
The Minister of State for Health Dr Olorunnimbe Mamora at the Conference who also reeled out some of the challenges the health sector is being faced with, however gave some of the steps to address this challenges.
The Chairman Nigeria Chapter of the West African College of Physician Dr. Aboyi Madaki said the Conference will proffer solutions on how best to address the health indices in the country.

The Conference which had different medical scholars and Professors in attendance is with the theme ” Nigeria Health Indices, Challenges and Prospect in a contemporary World” and it hope to highlight the challenges in the health sector of the country and as well address them holistically.
