Nigeria Food and Drugs Authority (NAFDAC) attains maturity level 3 regulatory status in latest WHO Ranking

The National Agency For Food And Drug Administration and control (NAFDAC) has attained maturity level 3, as a regulatory Agency in latest W.H.O ranking, trailing it’s counterparts from Tanzania and Ghana.

Director General of NAFDAC, professor Mojisola Adeyeye stated this at a press briefing in Abuja, as she announced the latest WHO ranking.

According to her, the process towards attaining the new ranking on food and drugs regulation was dependent on getting 868 recommendations since January 2018, recommendations which finally got clearance in October 2021.

Mojisola also reveals the benefits accruing to the country emerging, as the third food and drug Regulatory Agency in Africa.
According to her, it means that the country can now manufacture it’s own Vaccines, noting that the Pharmaceutical laboratory in oshodi area of Lagos State, will be ready by the second quarter of this year.

She also disclosed that the Agency is working on attaining Maturity level 4 (four) so as to enable pharmaceutical companies to produce in Nigeria and trade trade their products globally
