As part of efforts targeted towards improving the health and well being of Nigerians beyond COVID-19,
Nigeria is set to establish her own vaccine production facilities.
Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo made this known during the first Multi-Sectoral Approach to Solution Finding Conference on COVID-19 on Monday, in Abuja.
The conference which was organised by the the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development said Nigeria is to build a center of excellence for research, drugs and diagnostics towards improving the health of it’s citizens.
Osinbajo in his opening remarks stated that the world Bank of Nigeria has raised 30million dollars ($30,000,000) to help finance the vaccine plant planned to begin at the first quarter of next year in ota, Ogun state.
He said the global trend in health had made it critical for Nigeria To build a center of excellence for research, drugs and diagnostic towards improving the health establish its own vaccine production facilities.
Stressing that Nigeria cannot afford not to have its own vaccine production facilities, Osinbajo cited that India and the United State, noting that have been success due to their capacity to produce their vaccines.
