World leaders have been called upon to transform food systems so as to ensure the attainment of the sustainable development goals.
The Nigerian Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance and Budget Planning made the pronouncement at the 2021 UN food systems virtual dialogue organised by Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition in Nigeria.(CS-SUNN)
The Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olusola Idowu who was represented by Dr. Faniran says the Federal Government has been working with stakeholders in the nutrition system to ensure that no one is left behind in terms of nutrition.
She said that if challenges faced by farmers are not met, there will be problem in the food chain system.
Chairman Board of Trustees CS-SUNN Dr David Omotola says all Nigerians need to ensure that hunger and malnutrition is reduce drastically in the country. He added that citizens should be more involved in food eco system to ensure wide distribution of food without hassle.
He says it is important for Nigerians to ensure that hijacking of food from one place to another is prevented to reduce food scarcity and inflation.
