Why Saudi Arabia Gifts Nigerian Government Equipment Worth Millions Of Dollars.

In a bid to to assist the Nigerian government in the fight against the COVID-19 Pandemic, Saudi Arabia has donated medical equipments worth one million dollars. 

The Director Media and Public Relations Mr Olusegun Adetola who disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen said the hand over ceremony which was done at the Saudi Arabian Embassy had the presence of  the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Abdulaziz Mashi Abdullahi who represented the Honourable Minister of Health Dr. Osagie Ehanire.  
In his goodwill message, Dr. Ehanire, appreciated the Government of Saudi Arabia for its continuous contribution to the growth of the Health Sector in Nigeria through the King  Salman Humanitarian Aid & Relief Center.

He acknowledged the extensive efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in also combating blindness, cataract and glaucoma in addition to other sight weakness and disorders.

He expressed Federal Government readiness to utilize the kind gesture of medical equipment positively and distribution of items into various medical centres.
He further commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its role as a key partner in global health and development. 
The Honourable Minister eulogised Saudi Arabia for being in forefront of combating the menace in order to save human lives and preserve global health.

In his remark, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal Ibrahim Alghamdi  emphasized its Governments plan to organize twelve voluntary medical campaign to compaign to combat blindness, heart surgery and cataract in noting that the medical campaign is planned for six (6) Geo-political zones of the country.

He also mentioned different humanitarian assistance being rendered by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to displaced persons in the North-East adding that Food basket worth Ten Million Dollars have been distributed to families in some parts of the country like, Borno, Yobe, and Zamfara States.

Medical items donated include, Twenty-three ventilators, surgical sterile gowns, non-sterile surgical gowns, surgical mask, nitrite gloves and others.
